There are many kinds of warriors and forms of magic across Torgia.
Warrior: As long as there has been War, there have been Warriors. Those who take up arms in defense of their families, their kingdoms, or even for pay, Warriors come from all backgrounds and fight for a variety of reasons. Possibly for the sake of honor, maybe for the pure rush of combat, to seeing the life drain from their opponents eyes... from warrior elite nobility trained from near birth to become a fighter, to a humble commoner taking up weapons to defend their homestead one thing is for sure. Warriors are masters of melee combat.
Mage: Ages past, magic nearly destroyed the kingdom. Sorcerers plunged into the chaotic and powerful forces of magic heedlessly, little dreaming of the havoc they would unleash. However, even after the Avatar's demise, many still saw the uses and power magic could have...with just a little discipline. Intent on preventing irresponsible use of magic, the college of Mages was started. Over the ages, those with the talent for magic have been trained with much more discipline and restraint, and while they may not match the Rouge magic users of old, they are still quite powerful.
Thief: Masters of profiting from the loss of others, Thieves have practiced the art of stealth and taking what isn't theirs for the simple purpose of survival. While some might be bored nobility looking for a thrill, far more of them are of the lower classes, forced to rely on larceny to eat for another day. While the law tends to frown upon their actions, many do find a use for their talents, and in fact some of the best thieves are actually legitimate spies or saboteurs sent to steal secrets and information rather than gold. One would be surprised how much can be solved with some guile and a simple lock pick...
Ranger: Few organizations across torgia are as mysterious as the Rangers, and fewer are misunderstood. The general populace look on them with mistrust and superstition, tales persisting of strange powers and shadowy ways. And the Rangers prefer it this way. No one is quite sure of the rangers origins but themselves, but one thing that is known about them is that they always seem to be around when you least expect them, the eyes and ears of the kingdom, and tales of their skill with the bow and of their powers are not all exaggerations.
Bard: There are musicians, and then there are bards. Bards can be found all over torgia, doing performances and telling the great legends and tales of ages past, and it is through them that many people are aware of the great deeds of their people. Despite a somewhat...unsavory reputation they have from their garrulous ways, bards are far more than just wandering minstrels. They are masters of social interaction and culture, as well as being masters of charm magic, an exceptionally rare school of magic indeed.
Paladin: When Justinian Manneroth first took up his hammer and preached for the first time in front of the tribes of Sentea, the first Paladin was born on Torgia. A warrior without peer as well as packing divine power behind every strike, he was quite a memorable figure indeed. Since then, many have been inspired by the call to join the order of the Hammer of the Emperor, and since that time they have rode around the kingdom, destroying evil where they could find it and enforcing the will of the crown throughout the land. Even today, Paladins are champions of order, Wielding divine power and martial prowess.
Explorer: For some, the call of adventure and the allure of the road is too much to exist. Eschewing the hustle and bustle of city life, many restless souls take to the wilderness, looking for adventure. Even though man has been on torgia since time immemorial, there are many forgotten places lost to the ages, and finding them again is all the motivation some people need. Looking to fill the edges of the map, these independent souls have many tricks and skills to survive the dangers of the open road.
Battle Mage: An Arrian tradition that has recently found wider use around Torgia at large, Battle mages are a mix of scholar and fighter. While Warriors master physical combat and Mages practice the arcane arts, Battle mages practice in both, often going into battle with swords blazing with fire. While some may look down at their half and half approach, the stellar effectiveness of their fighting arts cannot be denied.
Cleric: When people question Senteans on their so called divine connections, many of them point to clerics as proof. Senteans learned the healing arts from Justinian Mannoroth himself, and clerics are the masters of "holy" magic. Many Clerics come from all walks of life, and can be found all over Torgia in their divine mission to heal all sickness they can, as well as spread the word of the holy Emperor. Clerics are defenders of the weak as well, devoted to protecting and tending to humanity in all of its walks of life.
Conjurer: When Alistar Crowley was shown the secret of magic, he didn't learn the magic that is taught now at the mage colleges. He was taught dark magic, the ability to tap into the power of a realm of darkness and shadow. Naturally he had apprentices, and those apprentices had apprentices... and when the avatar was defeated, that magic was outlawed, and conjurers disappeared...or, far more truthfully, went into hiding. Conjurers usually learn their art secretly, and are actively shunned in many parts of Torgia, often maligned and misunderstood.
Assassin: One of the great truths of Torgia is as long as there are enough people, someone is going to want someone dead. Assassins are the kind of people trained to kill in secret, and then disappear before anyone knew they were there. They are artists of death, willing to ply their trade for coin, although in some cases assassins have guilds with a long history with some governmental approval. Far from all being cold hearted mercenaries, some actually live by strict codes, and have a surprising sense of honor.
Scoundrel: People in Torgia survive in different ways, some through strength, some through cunning...and some survive in a completely different way. Scoundrels are people with tongues as sharp as any blade, able to survive with words alone. Dirty tricks? Under-handed schemes? Scoundrels have that in spades. They try to use words first, and ranged or hidden weapons second.
Sentinel: About 70 years ago, there was a schism in the Paladin order as Ingrid Gates questioned weather the express purpose of Paladins was to smite evil or protect the innocent. This brought much debate, and after intense argument between both sides, Lady Gates and a large number of the order splintered to become the Sentinels of Torgia, an offshoot of the Paladin order that said Paladins role required more of a non violent mindset. At first decried as a heretic order and sought to be "brought back" into the fold, Paladins soon came to accept the reasoning behind their philosophy, and Sentinels gained legitimate status within the order.
Monk: In the land of Teng'Se, Lao Tsing was a man who forsook all material possessions and sought spiritual enlightenment. In his quest for mastery of the body and mind, Lao Tsing developed a form of unarmed fighting utilizing a source of energy he called Ki. Seeking to share his enlightenment with others, he traveled around the islands of Teng'Se spreading his teachings...and with it his art of fighting. Throughout the centuries, his teachings have spread, and some find themselves to resist the allure of that kind of power. Oh yes, and enlightenment and all that.
Commander: Soldiers make up an army, but at the head of every great army is a great leader, a special kind of person who through tactical learning or force of personality, can rally men behind them to grand victories. Often underestimated, a great commander can make or break a fighting force. Often made up of nobility who have the wealth and leisure to afford such learning, Some are veteran soldiers who rose through the ranks through leadership skill, and even some are just people used to giving orders and having them obeyed.
Druids: Ever since people can remember, Druids have been on the outskirts of society with their mysterious nature magic. Coming from the forests of Hibernia, they meet together with their enigmatic rituals and seeming desire to protect nature. Although, while many look askance at Conjureres and Rangers, Druids find a bit more acceptance, usually seen as protectors and guardians of nature than dark and dangerous practitioners. Their connection with the natural world is obvious, and have been seen infrequently in quests and battles against evil. These days they seem to be making their presence known.
Witch hunter: Back in the dark ages of magical abuse, there were a group of people who were finally tired of living in terror of these reckless tyrants, and started to secretly hunt around and find magic lore themselves. But for the express purpose of slaying these mages. Mage killer extraordinaire, Witch hunters were responsible for the death of many an evil mage, eventually whittling them down and forcing them into hiding. But they don't just stop there. Monsters, seditionists...all who would disrupt the lives of good people should fear their cunning and skill.
